Homage to Titian

Naomi L. Ballance

Homage to Titian developed from an enquiry into the relationship between image and pattern, painting and ornamentation, and fine art and design.

The imagery is the result of studies into the structure, composition and perspective of the Classical Renaissance through paintings by Titians dating from the 1400s and research into Renaissance textile patterns that have been developed through a minimalist approach to decoration.

The outcome proposes to test and expand the conventional boundaries between art forms by attempting to exist simultaneously in a fine art and a design context.
